Compound Fractions: Example

Rule 27:
A compound fraction is sometimes called a mixed number.

tex2html_wrap_inline42 , tex2html_wrap_inline44 , and tex2html_wrap_inline46 are examples of compound fractions.

Example:
Convert tex2html_wrap_inline48 to a simple fraction.
Answer:
tex2html_wrap_inline48 can be written tex2html_wrap_inline52 . Write 7 as the fraction tex2html_wrap_inline54 .

Now tex2html_wrap_inline52 can be written tex2html_wrap_inline58 .

tex2html_wrap_inline60 .
