Draw a line from X to Y, and write '0' next to X and '460' next to Y. At time t, the first car's position on the line will be 60t, and the second car's will be 460-50t. Equate and solve for t.

Hello, khalidd!

Quote:
wo towns X and Y are 460 km apart.
A car leaves X for Y at 60 km/h and a slower car leaves Y for X at 50 km/h.
How long will the cars take to meet?

The two cars are approaching each other at: 60 + 50 \,=\,110 km/h.

To cover 460 km, it will take: .\dfrac{460}{110} \:=\:4\frac{2}{11} hours.
