Its interesting to note how many registered users have never posted. Beats me why you would join this board and not even post once.

Thanx PiDeltaPhi for the compliments... I guess that people register for possible posting (now or in the future)... and also for some it takes time to get aquainted with you guys.... it is hard to ask a question that may be seen as trivial (though there are no trivial questions in math!!!)....

hi all

I just wanted to say that this is a great idea. I, not only am learning new things in mathematics, but at the same time am able to share the knowledge I do have. I've noticed that there is quite a diversity in knowledge and experience in the subject of Mathematics in general on this site. I'm kind of in the middle of the spectrum. I'm fairly knowledgable up to intermediate and advanced calculus yet there is so much I haven't learned yet. I am finding that this is a good source for that knowledge. I even have to go back and review a lot of things that I took in school. (It's been a long time since I've been to college). So if I come up with an incorrect solution please bear with me. It would not hurt my feelings for anyone to call me on an error. I figure that's one of the best ways to learn, by making mistakes. But anyway, I hope that I am helping someone out there and hope to expand my knowledge in the process. Keep up the good work.
Bye for now.

As for not posting, I think some of you guys must hang around here all day - questions are answered almost as soon as they're posted, long before I get to look and then everything worthwhile has been said!

Spam filters definetely tend to overreact. AOL sometimes sends my PM notices to the junk mail folder. Perhaps there's a secret cuss word embedded in emails from S.O.S. Math. If this is the case, then we must scold helmut and mak for being so naughty (and we must not forget cbb...give that machine a decent kick in the butt). :P

One of my freinds has MAK as a teacher, I will get on him for the posible naughty referances that S.O.S. Math could stand for  . Not much else you can do but hope that these stupid spam filters pick up on the fact that it's Not SPAM. :|
