I have the augmented matrix...

\left[
\begin{array}{cc|cc}
a & b & c & d\\
a & b & c & d\\
\end{array}
\right]

How can I put a brace below (\underbrace{}) the 2 x 2 matrix on the right hand side?

You want something like this?

\left[
\begin{array}{cc|}
a & b \\
a & b \\
\end{array}
\right.\underbrace{\left. \begin{array}{cc}
 c & d\\
c & d\\
\end{array}
\right]}

Code:
\left[
\begin{array}{cc|}
a & b \\
a & b \\
\end{array}
\right.\underbrace{\left. \begin{array}{cc}
c & d\\
c & d\\
\end{array}
\right]}
