if in general,a quartic equation(4th degree equation) in the form ax^4+bx^3+cx^2+dx+e=0.

solve for x the following quartic equation:

12x^4+15x^3-30x^2+6x-3=0

find all the roots(real or complex)!

First of all, I'd divide both sides of the equation by 3. Then use Descartes' Rule of Signs. I can also tell that x=1 is a root of the equation so you should probably use the factor theorem and synthetic division to finish up.

Where did this question come from? Are you happy to get the remaining real root and the two complex roots by just evaluating the "cubic formula"?
