A specification sheet for a machine lists the following efficiencies:
AC Motor = 83%
Hydraulic Pump = 83%
Hydraulic Motor = 82%
Hose & Valves Losses = 80%
The overall efficiency is listed as 50.6%
It is my assumption that the overall efficiency be calculated as follows:
.83 * .83 * .82 * .8 = .45 or 45%
Am I wrong? or how does one arrive at 50.6% in the above example? :?:

You need to average all that stuff:
\frac{0.83+0.83+0.82+0.2}{4}=0.67=67%
Add to that the Hydraulic Pump is leaking oil at a rate of 20%,
this brings down our average to 51%
