Does |x|=x? is this true? I thought it may be x=(+-)x 'plus or minus x'

|x| = x if x \ge 0

|x| = -x if x < 0

The question doesn't make any sense, what is x? If we're being REALLY pedantic, I could even ask what is |*|, but since this is the algebra forum, I'll not go into other absolute values. Still, if x is a non-real complex number, it is neither of those things.
